You have absolute power in your country for 1 hour; what do you do?

hand it back to the people.

I don't see a question relating to mine, so I'll answer you here.

I didn't mean any war in particular. I agree with you, by staging wars, all we're doing is playing God. If you think of how many innocent people are out there getting killed everyday for a country they believe in...are they brave soliders? Or are they just normal people like you and me who were ripped out of their normal lives and put onto a battle field, willed to fight and the only reason they kept fighting was because they had no choice? Or did they fight because the military made their minds adapt to the thought, 'America Needs You'.

What does America need them for? Oil? Because of 9/11? Maybe the terrorist attacks to 9/11 could've been a signal that they wanted war, but that doesn't mean we should rise to every threat we get, does it? Why did Bush accept the attacks and then follow up with some of his own? To show Iraq that America was strong? Wouldn't it have been easier to just ignore the war threat and be the bigger man (or in this case, country)?

"Would they be cowards if the declared peace on their side or would they be respected?" I can't answer that. I'd respect them, for sure. I don't think it'd take courage to just stop fighting and go home...no, I don't. I don't think it'd be stupid, either.

What I want to know: How many soldiers are there out there who want to go home? And how many superiors are there? Certainly not more than the millions of soldiers at the front. So why couldn't the soliders just turn around and say "I'm not going to fight anymore." If enough of them did, there would be no chance of that side winning the war and the leaders would have to declare peace. They would have no choice unless they wanted to go out and risk getting killed themselves.
